Join Our Journey

Connection Gives Direction.

Relationships Bring Us Home.

Compass Homes is more than a workplace.

It is a home.

And we're looking for people who believe relationships have the power to change lives.

Our Home Guides don't simply supervise young people.

They mentor.

They coach.

They teach.

They encourage.

They challenge.

They celebrate.

They remain present through difficult moments and ordinary ones alike.

Sometimes the most important work happens over breakfast.

Sometimes it's while changing the oil in a car.

Sometimes it's shooting baskets in the driveway, planting tomatoes in the garden, helping with homework, or sitting quietly after a difficult day.

Those ordinary moments become extraordinary because they build trust.

And trust changes lives.

We Hire for Heart and Train for Skill

Education matters.

Training matters.

Experience matters.

But the qualities we value most cannot be earned through a degree alone.

We can teach documentation.

We can teach licensing standards.

We can teach policies and procedures.

What we cannot teach is genuine compassion.

Humility.

Integrity.

Patience.

Curiosity.

A sense of humor.

Or the willingness to keep showing up for a young person who needs someone to believe in them.

We hire people with heart.

Then we invest in helping them become exceptional Home Guides.

Who We're Looking For

Our first Compass Home will serve adolescent boys.

We're looking for adults who can model healthy relationships, consistent boundaries, accountability, and respect while helping young men prepare for adulthood.

Many of our strongest candidates may come from backgrounds such as:

  • Raising teenagers

  • Mentoring young people

  • Coaching athletics

  • Foster parenting

  • Teaching

  • Youth ministry

  • Juvenile justice

  • Child welfare

  • Law enforcement

  • Military leadership

  • Behavioral health

  • Community service

Lived experience matters here.

Character matters here.

Relationships matter here.

If you've spent your life investing in young people and believe every child deserves another opportunity, we'd love to meet you.

We Invest in Our Home Guides

The same philosophy that guides our work with youth guides our work with our team.

We believe connection gives direction.

That includes our staff.

Every Home Guide receives:

  • Comprehensive onboarding

  • Office-based orientation

  • Paid shadowing alongside experienced staff

  • Trauma-informed training

  • Mentoring and coaching

  • Ongoing professional development

  • A supportive team committed to learning and growing together

We don't expect perfection.

We expect authenticity, humility, and a willingness to keep learning.

As we invest in our youth, we also invest in the people who walk beside them every day.

Employment Requirements

To ensure the safety of everyone in our home, applicants must successfully complete:

  • Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) background check

  • Child Abuse and Neglect Information System (CANIS) screening

  • Fingerprint-based background check

  • All licensing requirements required by the State of Kansas

Training begins in our office and continues with paid shadowing before Home Guides begin working independently.

We believe meaningful work deserves meaningful compensation.

Compass Homes offers:

  • Starting wages beginning at more than $20 per hour, depending on experience and position

  • Monthly health insurance stipend for full-time Home Guides

  • Paid onboarding and training

  • Ongoing mentoring and professional development

  • Opportunities for advancement as Compass Homes grows

We are committed to building a workplace where people feel valued, supported, and inspired to grow.

We're Still Building

Compass Homes is preparing to open in Fall 2026.

While we anticipate hiring beginning in September or October 2026, we're already looking for the people who will help shape our culture from day one.

Rather than asking for formal applications today, we're inviting Letters of Interest.

Tell us a little about yourself.

Share the experiences that have shaped you.

Tell us why this work speaks to you.

What draws you to mentoring young people?

Why do you believe you'd be a good fit for Compass Homes?

Don't worry about writing the perfect letter.

We're not looking for perfection.

We're looking for people.

Let's Start a Conversation

Every meaningful relationship begins with a conversation.

If you believe you have the heart to help a young person discover their strengths, build healthy relationships, and prepare for adulthood, we'd love to hear from you.

Send us a brief introduction.

Tell us your story.

We'll take it from there.

Because we believe the same thing today that inspired The Red Thread Project from the very beginning:

Conversations can change lives.

And sometimes...

One conversation changes many.
